Explore Our ExpertiseDr. Jack Dunlop
A legacy of leadership in the global performance chemicals sector.

Jack Dunlop spent his early years in the Ayrshire farming community of south-west Scotland, attending Ballantrae Primary School and Girvan Academy. He graduated from Strathclyde University, Glasgow with BSc (Honours) in 1977 and a PhD in 1980 in Chemistry. He was later awarded Chartered Chemist (CChem) and Member (MRSC) status by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Between 1980 and 1998 Jack worked for Exxon Chemicals, Dow Chemical, and Lubrizol Corporation in various technical, sales, marketing, and business management roles. Strategic planning, new product development, and marketing within a business development environment were central themes to this corporate career phase.
Jack established JD Horizons in 1999 as a specialist technology and marketing channel for performance chemicals in the oil industry. The company became widely recognized as a significant player in the development and marketing of proprietary chemicals for flow assurance. JD Horizons was later acquired by Croda International in August 2014. Given this transition, a new company, JD Vistas Limited, was incorporated to serve specialist consulting activities retained by Jack post-sale.
